Strasburg Graduation Information

Monday, April 27th, 2020

On Monday, April 20th, Governor Mike DeWine closed school buildings for the rest of the school year. Within his message, he also stated to continue social distancing and avoid mass gatherings. We recognize the impact that the COVID-19 pandemic has had on our students, especially the Class of 2020. Following Governor DeWine’s announcement, the Ohio Department of Education came out with specific guidelines for graduation. Our administration is working to ensure we follow guidelines, yet create a memorable experience.

We are holding our Seniors near and dear to our hearts.  Our goal is to create a memorable keepsake for them in light of the disappointment, of the inability to follow our school traditions. It is our intent, to make sure each student in the Class of 2020 is given the opportunity to be recognized and honored for their tremendous accomplishments. Strasburg-Franklin plans on graduating each senior “individually” on the original graduation date of Sunday, May 24th. Each senior, along with 6 family members, will be able to enter the building on this date for their individual graduation. Each senior, wearing their cap and gown, will have the opportunity to walk across the stage and receive their diploma. After receiving their diploma, each graduate will then have their picture taken by a professional photographer. At that time, the graduate and their family will immediately exit the building to allow for the next graduate to be recognized. Storied Rivals will be present on this day to record and create an awesome keepsake. All speeches and recognitions that are part of our traditional graduation ceremony will also be included in the keepsake. Following the ceremony, Storied Rivals will edit and produce the video. We will be premiering the graduation video at the Lynn Drive-In Theatre. The premier will be announced at a later date and contingent on the Governor allowing the Drive-In to be open. After the premier, the graduation video will be posted on all social media platforms and the school website.

All seniors will receive a DVD copy of the graduation video along with a complimentary 8 X 10 photo. The date for pick-up of these items will be announced at a later date. Each family will also have the opportunity to receive a link to their graduate’s photo so that additional copies of the photo may be printed.

Below you will find a link to a sign-up form to schedule your individual graduation time. Please select from the available time slots for the ceremony on Sunday, May 24th. Please complete the sign-up by Wednesday, May 6th.

More information concerning logistics for the event will be released as we get closer to the date.

We understand that not having a traditional graduation is a disappointment to you, your families, and the community,  However, it is very important that we recognize the Class of 2020 for their hard work, dedication, and accomplishments of the past 13 years. We are so proud of these young men and women for what they have meant to our school and community.

We appreciate your continued support of the Strasburg-Franklin Local School District as we continue to navigate through this difficult time. Stay Safe, Stay Healthy, and Go Tigers!

Yours In Education,

Adam Hall
