Superintendent's Message

Dear Strasburg-Franklin Community,

Welcome to the 2021-2022 school year! I hope everyone has had a relaxing summer. The beginning of the school year is always an exciting time. We are extremely optimistic about returning to some sort of normalcy and look forward to welcoming back students on Wednesday, August 18!

Don’t forget to also mark Monday, August 16 on your calendars for our Back to School Open House, which is scheduled from 4:00-7:30 p.m. This event kicks off the new school year with opportunities to meet the staff, tour the building, learn about our school programs and events, and connect with local community organizations. With food trucks and music, it’s a fun way to start the new school year.

As the new superintendent, I would first like to thank Mrs. Cindy Brown for her years of service to our district. Mrs. Brown was a tremendous leader who elevated Strasburg to a new level. We are grateful for the time she spent with us and wish her the best in retirement.

Next, I would like to take a moment and reflect. Last year, we successfully made it through an incredibly difficult school year that brought numerous challenges and obstacles. How did we accomplish this? The way we accomplish everything in this community, together! Thank you to our students who persevered through every safety protocol and socially-distanced guideline. Thank you to our parents and community members who continued to be supportive as we navigated the uncertainty of constant change. Finally, thank you to our remarkable staff; they took on every challenge thrown their way to make a unique year as normal and enjoyable as possible to support our students. Over the past year, I have learned how difficult times require all of us to pull together and work as a team to accept and embrace new opportunities. I believe we are ready and prepared to move forward together to build an even stronger and greater school community.

As we turn our focus to the start of a new school year, we want to ensure a smooth and positive transition for everyone. The global pandemic forced us to rethink and adjust our practices to provide additional opportunities to fit the needs of our students and families better. Based on feedback and the success we saw last year, we plan to continue the following experiences and expectations moving forward:

  • The Strasburg Digital Academy will continue to be an option for students wanting to learn remotely.

  • Virtual conferences and meetings will continue to be offered for those unable to attend in person.

  • Communication and collaboration with parents will continue to be enhanced.

  • Locker usage, hallway traffic patterns, lunch schedules, and overall cleanliness and hygiene will continue to be monitored very closely this school year.

I would also like to welcome Mr. Kevin McDougal to the Strasburg Tiger family; he will be the new principal at our middle school and high school. Prior to Strasburg, Mr. McDougal was a high school history teacher at Perry Local Schools. Kevin is a strong leader who has a passion for helping students reach their full potential. He has already become a valued asset to our administrative team, and I look forward to the positive impact he will have here at Strasburg.

As we start this new year, and hit the refresh button, a phrase you will continually hear throughout our district is Every Student. Every Day. No Matter What. We know that at the end of the day, this is why we are here. Our greatest and most important goal is to make sure we are continually putting students’ needs first. As John F. Kennedy once said, “Children are the world’s most valuable resource, and its best hope for the future.”

I am excited and honored to begin this school year as your new superintendent. My door is always open. Please feel free to call, email, or stop by to share your thoughts, concerns, and perspectives about our district with me.

Thank you for entrusting your children to us,Mr. Adam Hall

Mr. Adam Hall
