Strasburg High School will hold graduation for the Class of 2020 on May 24th, 2020. It is important that each graduate and their family arrive slightly before their scheduled time for their individual graduation ceremony. Upon arrival, graduating seniors and their families should park in the staff parking lot, in the back of the building. Seniors and their families are asked to please remain in their car until directed to enter the building by Mr. Spinell. Upon entering the building, Mrs. Tidrick will provide final details for the event and take the graduate to have their picture taken by a professional photographer. Each graduate will have two separate photos taken. After the photographs have been taken, the family of the graduate will be directed to a specific designated viewing area in the gymnasium. The graduating senior will then enter the gym and proceed down the left aisle. Once the student’s name is called, he/she will walk across the stage to receive his/her diploma. The graduate will then exit the right side of the stage. After exiting the stage, the graduate and their family will exit the gymnasium and proceed to the back hallway by the high school locker rooms. Students will receive their locker belongings, certificates, and awards from Mrs. Bailey at this time. After receiving these items, the graduate and family members must exit the building to allow the next individual graduation ceremony to take place.
We have collaborated with our local health department in an effort to ensure specific safety procedures are followed. Each graduate will only be allowed six family members. There will be no exceptions to this guideline. Our administrative team has worked extremely hard to maintain a balance between recognizing the Class of 2020 and adhering to appropriate safety recommendations to make this event as memorable as possible. We thank you in advance for your understanding and cooperation in this matter.
A few important reminders for the Graduating Class of 2020:
- School dress code is to be followed for graduation.
- Pay your fees. Any student with outstanding fees will not receive their diploma.
- Turn in your textbooks/library books. Any student that has not turned in these two items will not receive their diploma. These items can be turned in on Friday, May 22nd from 9:00-12:00 or on graduation day.
Finally, don’t forget that the premier of the graduation ceremony will be Thursday, May 28th at 9:15 PM. The event will be held at Lynn Drive-In Movies. Maximum capacity for this event is 125 cars. Each graduate will be given a ticket at graduation that will allow one car to park in a special reserved section at the Drive-In for the premier event.
