Welcome back students, families, and community members,
I feel incredibly blessed to be joining the Strasburg community this school year as the new middle school and high school principal. On Wednesday, August 18, we will be welcoming back students into the building with high hopes for a fun and fulfilling school year. I am excited to kick off this school year and find new ways to help our students reach their goals and pursue their interests.
Prior to starting at Strasburg, I taught high school social studies and coached speech and debate at Perry High School. As a classroom teacher, I worked to find ways to meet each student at his or her level. I think learning is so much more enriching when we celebrate the different ways each of us approach acquiring knowledge and thinking about concepts. I am eager to join this staff and community due to Strasburg’s reputation that every student who walks through the halls feels valued and has access to a rewarding education. I am ready to continue to build on this remarkable work.
We will also be welcoming three new staff members this year as well. Ms. Jaelle Lindon will be joining us in the math department. She’ll be teaching Algebra I, Precalculus, and Calculus. Ms. Lindon is a recent graduate of Franklin University. We are also thrilled to welcome Ms. Nicole Lake. She comes to us from Jackson Local Schools and will be teaching 7th and 8th grade social studies. Prior to entering the field of education, Ms. Lake was an attorney and an instructor at The Ohio State University. Finally, we would also like to introduce Ms. Carol Mizer as our new cafeteria cashier. She will be a great addition to our cafeteria team.
I am excited to announce that we will be forming a speech and debate team to provide our students with the chance to flex their creative and political muscles. Throughout my time at Perry, I coached four individual state champions and one student who placed in the top six at the national tournament. This is a sincere passion of mine, and I am extremely grateful for the opportunity to bring this program to Strasburg.
Along with speech and debate, students can also sign up for three new courses: Leadership Studies, Principles of Engineering, and Passport to Culture. Reach out to the high school office if you have any questions about these opportunities.
During this school year, I hope to utilize my teaching experience and passion for quality instruction to contribute to the amazing work of this school and community. When preparing for a new school year, I am reminded of a quote by American automaker and business leader, Henry Ford, “Coming together is a beginning, staying together is progress, and working together is success.” I look forward to working together with all of you to ensure that each of our students achieves success this school year.
